"As a Community Development Assistant, I believe that communities have the power to drive their own change. It begins with recognising their potential and what they are capable of achieving together. There is strength in unity, and together, we are capable.

"This is why we need to join hands to break the silence, because if we remain silent, this violence will continue to persist,” said Atupele Jumbe, Balaka District Community Development Assistant responsible for T/A Nsamala.

She was speaking during Pamodzi Kuthetsa Nkhanza awareness campaign in the area.

The community of Group Village Head Kambadi in Traditional Authority Nsamala turned out in large numbers, joined by traditional and religious leaders, other community leaders, district council officials and other stakeholders.

The gathering was supported by other powerful contributions from Group Village Head Kambadi, Balaka Police Victim Support Unit Officer Ruth Dausi and Nsamala Area Development Committee (ADC) Chairperson Charles Bwanali.

In a united voice, they delivered a powerful message: “Never stay silent on Gender-Based Violence—speak out and report.”

The PKN Programme is funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) through the What Works to Prevent Violence Programme.
