The What Works 2 Malawi Consortium team recently completed training in the SASA Together methodology, a key strategy set to guide the implementation of the Pamodzi Kuthetsa Nkhanza (PKN) project in Balaka and Lilongwe districts. This training marked a significant step in strengthening the team’s capacity to prevent violence against women and girls.

SASA Together is an evidence-based approach developed by Raising Voices in Uganda. It focuses on shifting power dynamics within relationships and communities as a way to prevent Intimate Partner Violence (IPV). The approach has been successfully implemented in various contexts and is now being adapted to the Malawian setting through the PKN project.
The training was made possible through funding from the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO). It was co-facilitated by WOLREC and Gabriella Pinto, a Technical Advisor from Raising Voices, who brought valuable insights and practical guidance to the sessions.
With this training, the consortium is better equipped to apply SASA Together in local communities, helping to build safer, more inclusive environments. The knowledge gained will play a critical role in promoting lasting change in attitudes and behaviors that perpetuate gender-based violence.
