The training also includes a key component on women’s economic empowerment.

During today’s session, participants engaged in practical activities such as group discussions and drama performances focusing on how to support women who have experienced intimate partner violence.

They also reflected on personal experiences of power; discussions on times they felt powerless and learned how to use power positively and respectfully.

Facilitators are further being guided on effective communication skills, including how to say “No” in ways that maintain respect and prevent conflict.

These are important lessons they will carry forward as they begin facilitating MO sessions in their respective communities.

Moyo Olemekezeka is one of the approaches under the Pamodzi Kuthetsa Nkhanza (PKN) program, funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) through the What Works to Prevent Violence.

The program is being implemented in Malawi by a consortium of three organizations: Women's Legal Resources Centre (WOLREC) , Human Rights for Women and Girls with Disabilities in Malawi - hrwgdm, and Girls Empowerment Network  GENET).
