Deeper understanding of behavior change

A workshop on Behaviour Analysis for the Theory of Change took place in Lilongwe under the Pamodzi Kuthetsa Nkhanza (PKN) Malawi Consortium. The session aimed to strengthen the consortium’s approach to tackling the root causes of violence against women and girls through a deeper understanding of behavior change.

The training was co-facilitated by the Women’s Legal Resources Centre (WOLREC), which leads the consortium, alongside Amanda Bangura, Technical Advisor from Social Development Direct (SD Direct). Participants were guided through key concepts and practical methods for identifying, analyzing, and influencing behaviors that sustain harmful social norms.

Through a series of interactive discussions and group exercises, consortium partners explored how behavioral insights can be integrated into programming and community engagement. The workshop created a space for reflection, critical analysis, and alignment of strategies across organizations.

Support for the workshop was provided by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) through its flagship initiative, What Works to Prevent Violence: Impact at Scale (What Works 2). The PKN Malawi Consortium includes WOLREC, Girls Empowerment Network (GENET), and Women’s Advocacy Group (WAG), working together to end violence against women and girls in Malawi.
